Something very concerning happened on the way to the party... Hannah started trying to get into the liquor cabinet! It seems that the cake she was about to have for the first time was not good enough. The misunderstanding was cleared up and now Hannah understands that she has to wait until she is at least 15 before she starts drinking.

Hannah made the long trip to Orange Beach this weekend for her first birthday. If you think about it, it is actually her second birthday, July 1st last year being her first. If you do not believe it, check this website's archives, she even had a cake that day (she did not get to eat any that day, but she had one). Hannah is modeling her birthday dress with "G" in this picture. Hannah has become such an internet superstar; relatives came all the way from Delaware to see her on her birthday, by car. Hannah enjoyed meeting Aunt Georgia (G's sister) and Uncle Tom.
Hannah's birthday update
Hannah returned late last night from her first birthday party at the
beach. Hannah's personal photographer also returned very late last
night. Management hopes to find some time tonight to post some of the
most memorable moments from the trip. Hannah thanks all who called to
wish her a happy birthday. -Management

Hannah is a very happy little girl. She very much enjoyed her pool time today. We actually took her over to the neighbor's pool, because it was a much better temperature, and Momma and Daddy were able to get in with her. She has a pool float she can sit in and ride around all day. Unfortunately, it started to rain on Daddy's camera, and we had to go home.

Daddy persuaded Hannah that she should get back in the pool, and Hannah gladly took the suggestion. What you see in this picture is actually a trick of the camera, making things seem entirely opposite of what I just said above. This trick of the camera is not widely known, and very technical to explain. Just accept the fact that Hannah was not forced by Daddy's heavy hand to get back in the pool against her will. -Daddy

Coming Attractions-
Pictures from Hannah's first birthday party,
Video of her eating her birthday cake all by herself,
Pictures of her eating the cake,
The Cake itself,
Hannah standing next to the cake (before and after)
Hannah solving math puzzles,
Hannah water skiing, base jumping, and balancing plates on sticks
Other advanced things.

But she continues to dislike different feelings on her feet. Although she had these shoes on, she was upset when we made her walk on the tree bark, or "jagged Sticks of death" as she calls them. Momma and Daddy walked a couple steps away and asked her to walk to us. Hannah stood in one place refusing to move for at least 3 minutes. She was not crying, she just did not feel like moving over the "jagged sticks of death." Eventually she got over it, and we went home for the night.
We're Still Here
Hi. This is Hannah's Mom (aka the one without the camera). No, we have not abandoned our site. We do have some pictures that we've taken of lil' bit, but just haven't posted them. I will beg Pickle's Daddy (PDiddy) to post more pictures tonight. I think he got some good ones of us at the playground the other day!

On a totally unrelated subject... While Hannah and her parents were driving home on Monday Hannah spotted this trailer on the road near Atlanta. I guess it is related because Hannah will someday officially become an American Idol. For now she accepts her unofficial title of "American Idol Junior Champion." -Management

It is difficult to see in this picture, but Hannah is getting her second tooth! The bottom two front teeth are in place. Hannah was not really showing any signs of her teeth/mouth hurting her while these teeth are moving in. I guess she advanced through that stage quickly, as in all other stages with her. -Management

After a long hard day at the beach, it is time for some rest and relaxation. Hannah was worn out on her first trip to the beach where she could get in the water. She did not like the sand between her toes, and she did NOT like getting in the water. I have never seen or felt Hannah cling to someone as hard as she did when she was dipped in the water. She was so preoccupied by the water then for the first time she did not mind wearing a hat. Normally she will pull the hat off her head immediately, but not at the beach.

Hannah got to spend some quality time with Papa on this trip. Here Papa was teaching Hannah the finer points of using the cordless phone. She mastered the basic concepts almost immediately. You can see in this picture Hannah answered a call for her mother, then called her to the phone. The person on the other end of the line was a little confused, but that is OK.
