Pirates and Princesses birthday party

Hannah ran around "The Hangout" with the pirates and princesses (Tinker-Bell) before she took this picture, so please forgive the lack of bows in her hair.
Mom and Dad are very proud of our "big" girl. She has great manners, loves her brother very much, shares well with her brother and others well, I could go on and on. She gives us a little too much lip every once in a while, but we could not be more proud of her. Hannah and Reilly make us want to have another kid around the house.

The Cake

This is the cake that Momma made for the "Princesses and Pirates" birthday breakfast for Hannah. (The doll's hair is in a wrap for transport). Hannah loved her cake and her brithday party with many of her cousins.

Big Treat

What birthday would be complete without a HUGE Ice Cream Cone?

Cecilia gets into the act

Hannah's cousin Cecilia got into the act too.

Accessories!

And here they are... Not shown are her new high heel shoes.

Hannah turns 5 years old!

So "Princess" Hannah turned five years old on July 1st. As usual, she spent her holiday weekend in Orange Beach, AL stimulating the newly decimated economy. Here, Hannah tried on her new princess dress, what isn't shown is all the other accessories that came with it. Wow. -Daddy

Funny Funny Children!

This past Saturday, we traveled to Auburn for my cousin Landon's wedding. On Saturday afternoon, it was VERY important that Reilly get a nap prior to the 6pm wedding. So, I put him down in his pack-n-play, sang "E-I-O" and put him in his bed. As I was leaving the room, he screamed out...."Dis Hotel. Dis not my bed, Momma.". After about a 15 minute battle, I convinced him that regardless of what bed he was in, he needed to take a nap. I sure am glad he got a nap because he was up until 11pm dancing the night away!

Before the bride and groom arrived at the reception, Hannah looked up at me and asked me where the "pretty pretty princess" was. I giggled and said that she wasn't there yet, but that she would be there soon! She was completely mesmerized by the beautiful bride. She was thrilled when she got to dance with her!

Busy Summer Already!

I LOVE my new tractor from BB & Papa!!

At the children's museum! Painting on the walls! Can't do this at home!

Riding a "REAL" tractor at the Children's Museum

We have had a busy summer already. We've gone to Mobile (crawfish party), to Madison, GA (Mommy's triathlon), Orange Beach (to savor the clean beach one last time), to Auburn, AL (for Landon's wedding). We managed to squeeze in a trip to the Atlanta Children's Museum in between packing & unpacking :-)

H - When I grow up I want to do a triathlon too daddy.
D - Oh yeah? Great!
H - Yeah, but I want mine to be swimming, soccer, and art!

Congrats to Momma!

Congratulations to my beautiful wife and mother of two for completing her first triathlon this morning. She has been working very hard training for this event, and did not sleep much last night thinking about it. However, she completed her first triathlon in 2 hours 15 minutes and 11 seconds, and the most important thing to her was that she did not finish last!
Now if you could just find a triathlon that allows you to bring the kids along, Daddy wouldn't be so frazzled at the finish line when you cross it.

-Daddy, Hannah, and Reilly are proud of you (even if they don't know it yet).

E-I-O Cake

As I've blogged about before, Reilly's favorite song is "E-I-O". He requests E-I-O every night before going to bed. He will sometimes say "E-I-O - PIG mommy". I proceed to sing Old McDonald had a farm.... and on his farm he had a pig....

What better cake to have for his birthday than a farm with pigs, cows, and chicks! So much fun to make.

A friend took some pictures of Reilly with the cake, but until then....

Heavenly Shoes

H - Mom, I really like these shoes. Can I have them?
(she's wearing a pair of black peek a boo high heel shoes with stones on them)
M - No, you can't have them, but you can wear them.
H - Oh, well maybe I can HAVE them when you go to heaven.
M - Sure. I'll call the lawyer and have that written in!!

Another Hannah Funny

Mommy: "Hannah, what is your favorite meal that Mommy cooks?"
Hannah: "Macaroni and Cheese"
Mommy: "Ok, what is your SECOND favorite meal Mommy cooks?"
Hannah: "Thai Noodles"
Mommy: "What? When have I ever cooked Thai noodles?"
Hannah: (looking at Mommy as if she were the dumbest person on earth) "Um, bow TIE noodles, Mommy. Remember, you cooked them last week."
Mommy: (laughing) "There is a difference in Thai noodles & bow TIE noodles!!"

Kids Say the Darndest Things

A couple weeks ago we went to the zoo. We were at the panda exhibit when Hannah looks at me and says "It's OK, Momma. It's just a man in a suit.". Nope, Hannah, we're at the zoo, that's a REAL panda!

Hannah (like her Momma at this age) is VERY afraid of characters...ie Aubie, Clifford the Big Red Dog, The Chick Fil A cow... We always tell her to not be afraid because it's just a man in a suit. After looking at the panda, I could totally understand where she's coming from!! He did look like a man in a suit!!

Carousel

There is a carousel at the mall closest to our house. I often bribe them with it so they're good during our shopping time. This time, I just had Reilly with me. He spotted the carousel and begged me for a ride. Could you say no to this face??!!

Playin' at Home

I'm not the best at taking pictures of Hannah & Reilly just playing on a normal day... so here they are... just being themselves (Hannah - almost 5 and Reilly almost 2)

Spring Break 2010

We played in the sand for hours.

we played in Lulu's fountain for Youth! (mommy was not prepared
with a change of clothes. a trip to Target for new clothes was necessary.
But it was worth every penny because they had a BLAST!)

Mommy, I'm wet (2 syllables in wet!)

we were buried in sand.

we posed on the beach. don't hate me because I'm beautiful.
we flew a kite also, but mommy didn't have enough hands to take a
picture of this. Hannah begged mommy to go fly a kite, but then once it was up,
she wasn't interested. Mommy ended up flying the kite.

If only everybody looked cute with chopped off hair! She has gotten
SO MANY compliments on her hair. I'm not sure she's been cured from
playing hair salon at home!

And now for something completely different...

Totally unrelated to the hair incident over the weekend, Daddy caught Reilly throwing a fit the other day. Here is a sample...

The aftermath

After the haircuts it was all unicorns and rainbows. No one was mad any more, not even Momma.

Reilly: "Do you believe you did not even get put in time-out after this stunt?"
Hannah: "Mom and Dad are such pushovers. I was laughing at them while I was getting my hair cut."
Reilly: "They gave me a lollipop, let's do this again next week!"
Hannah: "I think my dolls at home need a hair cut too, it isn't really all that hard."

Hannah was no longer upset about the whole thing. Momma did say that Hannah started crying after she saw her own hair in the mirror. I am not sure if she was crying because she saw her own hair, or if the guilt trip had started. Either way, she is now saddled with a 1980's wave haircut for a while, maybe they will come back in style soon.

A small smirk?

Am I mistaken, or is that a small smirk?

The cuts...

Here are the cuts in progress, they look better than the final product.

Shades of his birth, Reilly has a mohawk again, if only for a brief moment.
Hannah's hair is so short. She really had some pretty hair yesterday.

Hannah pretty much sat in this position the whole haircut. She was experiencing the biggest guilt trip ever from her mother (see the arms folded in the back left of the picture).

Reilly did not mind a bit.

Emergency Corrective Actions...

There HAD to be emergency corrective action, there was no telling Momma otherwise. So off to the salon...

Does anyone look happy here?
Reilly's hair was far better off than Hannah's, but it was a bit messed up. Daddy was happy that the curls would have to come off to correct his hair!

Mom is in a better mood now.

The Hair incident of 2010

There was drama concerning hair today at the house. Momma was very happy to realize Hannah and Reilly would play well together in the basement playroom. Hannah and Reilly were playing very well for a long time, near one hour. When it was time for Hannah to get ready to head out to a birthday party, the Hair incident was discovered. Hannah had cut her hair as well as Reilly's, but it was Momma that was crying, Daddy headed straight for the camera...

Just for Fun

We like frogs! Frog Puppets

We like to stick our tongues out like frogs.

We like froggy boots. (even when it's not raining)

We wear our frog boots pretty much every day. It's not worth the battle to put on "real" shoes.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but their expressions are priceless!
